As we step into May, the world around us feels a little more alive. The trees are budding, flowers are cautiously peeking out, and the days are getting longer. There's so much to look forward to: opening the pool, warmer weather, family gatherings, BBQs, and finally ditching the winter coats for good (we hope!).
May is a season of growth — in nature, in our homes, and even within ourselves. It's a time when communities come alive with farmers' markets, outdoor festivals, soccer games, and long walks without needing five layers of clothing.
But let’s be honest — May also comes with its own special challenges.
While we’re all excited about the arrival of spring, we’re also faced with those May realities:
🌧️ Grey, rainy days that make us wonder if we should start building an ark.
🌱 Lawns that grow so fast you swear you can see it growing.
🐾 And let’s not forget — the hidden "surprises" in the grass left behind by our beloved furry friends. (Cue the hopping around the backyard like it’s a minefield!)
Yes, you may feel like you're mowing the lawn every four days just to avoid turning your backyard into a full-blown hayfield. And yes, there's a good chance you'll miss a hidden dog deposit and only discover it when it's far too late.
But hey — this is what memories are made of, right?
May Reminders to Keep Us Smiling:
-
Embrace the rainy days with a good book, a movie, a cozy blanket, and maybe a hot cup of coffee. It's also a great time to fill out our guided life story journals.
-
Laugh (instead of cry or cuss) when your mower gets stuck in a patch of wild grass that looks like it belongs on a farm.
-
Take deep breaths of that fresh spring air — even if it's slightly "enhanced" by the dog. 😉
-
Remember that every rainstorm brings more blooms, every muddy mess means a life full of energy, and every overly busy weekend is proof that life is happening all around you.
In all seriousness, May is a time for hope, energy, and fresh starts.
It’s about spending time outdoors, planning summer adventures, tackling new projects, and making time for the people and things that matter most. Whether you're planting a garden, planning a family BBQ, or simply taking a few more evening walks, May is here to remind us that growth sometimes comes with a little chaos — and that's perfectly okay.
So pull on your boots, fire up the mower, and keep a lookout for those "hidden treasures." May is ready for us — rain, grass, surprises and all!
